Bring Camp Metro to life as you enjoy all your favorite camp activities. Campers in this program will swim two times at the YMCA Aquatic Facility on White Road. Enjoy the best of summer days and let Camp Metro be your passport to the world!
Fantasia

Everything you like to do and more! Dress up in costumes, have fun with face paint, play with puppets and step into your own world of make-believe. With your new camp friends, use a bit of imagination and create your own Camp Metro fairytale, then build a camp clubhouse and have a tea party. Anything could happen!
Zoomunji

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! It’s a summer safari through the world of animals. Find out how different animals live and play, have fun in art, make animal masks and critter collages, and play animal games. Visit a local wildlife center to see some cool critters and even welcome some very special furry visitors at camp. At the end of the week take home your very own Build-A- Bear!
Animania

Do you love animals? Then join us for this incredible animal adventure. Learn about all different kinds of animals: from pets to endangered species. With your fellow animal lovers learn what it’s like to be an animal keeper. Visit the Santa Clara Humane Society, meet some furry friends from SaveABunny and take a trip to the Oakland Zoo.
The Great Teddy Bear Adventure

Are you ready for a little adventure? Start out by making your own Camp Metro Teddy Bear with Build-a-Bear. Then team up with new friends, and of course your bear, and have fun solving clues that will lead you on a new adventure everyday. Maybe your clues will take you to the art pavilion for some creative crafts, or to the stage to learn the “Teddy Bear Tango” or even to the nature room to find out all about real bears. There’s even a special Teddy Bear picnic waiting for you!
The Great Escape

A new adventure every day when Camp Metro goes on the road! With your fellow travelers, visit fun and interesting spots around the Bay Area. Head toward Santa Cruz and visit the Mystery Spot then hit the beach for some sand volleyball and beach fun. Spend a day at the Tech Museum and take in an IMAX show, have fun on a sports focused field trip and solve the clues on the Great Camp Metro Scavenger hunt. Help choose some of your own adventures too. Don’t’ stay home this summer…escape with Camp Metro!
Rock and Bowl

Climb a wall and have a ball! From indoor rock climbing to bowling– shake up your summer with this crazy combo. Have three rock climbing lessons with trained and experienced instructors at City Beach Indoor Climbing Gym and go bowling at Mission Lanes in San Jose. Let’s Rock and Bowl!
Ice Dancers

“Cool off” during those hot summer days by taking ice skating lessons at the Sharks Ice Arena. This program includes lessons and free skate time. Back at camp, join the fun creating dance moves in a chorus line and show off your synchronized dance talents in a routine for the rest of the camp. Enjoy other camp activities too.
Rock On!

Challenge yourself with beginning to intermediate indoor rock climbing and rappelling. Under the guidance of trained and experienced instructors, you will enjoy eight hours of instruction at City Beach Indoor Climbing Gym. Back at camp practice your rope work and enjoy team challenges and adventure activities.
Bling it on!

Can you say bedazzle? Add sparkle and glitz to everything you touch! Work with beads, wire, ribbons and rhinestones to make beautiful jewelry, hair accessories, flip flops and even picture frames. Learn to batik, design and decorate a new bag from a pair of old jeans. Add a little pizzazz and host a Karaoke club where you can shine and show-off your dazzling creations. Grab all your friends and Bling it On at Metro!
Paperpalooza!

Fold, snip and glue your way through the world of paper art! From scrapbooking and decoupage to paper jewelry, ornaments, note cards, papermaking and more. Decorate a special journal or picture frame and create your own signature artist trading card. It’s a paper art extravaganza you won’t want to miss.

The world of fine arts is waiting for you! Blend different types of art mediums with your own creativity and imagination and see works of art unfold. Express yourself with painting and watercolor, mold clay into sculpture and weave textiles. Enjoy a special art class at the San Jose Museum of Art too.
Hot off the Grill

Gourmet cooking – outdoor style! Cook delicious treats and meals over a BBQ or campfire. Grab your whisks and special ingredients and make your own unique marinade sauce for a dinner entree, cook a one-pot wonder in a dutch oven, make scrumptious treats in a solar oven or indulge in chocolate fondue cooked over a fire. Get your grill on and host a BBQ with your new friends and enjoy a yummy camp experience.
Cookie Cutters

Get creative with edible art, make a recipe book, decorate your own apron and try your hand at no-bake cooking. Experiment with colors, shapes, patterns, textures and make fun and tasty treats. Plan a party and share your delicious creations. Join us for a week of incredible edibles that are made outside the kitchen.
Let’s Get Cooking

Hey Jr. Chefs – what’s cookin? Have fun in the Metro Kitchen learning the basics or perfecting your skills at planning and cooking meals. Create mouth-watering appetizers and savory entrees. Unravel the mystery of umami – the fifth taste, roll sushi and make Cuban fried plantains for an international flavor. Create your own recipe book too!
Peppermint Twist

If you like candy then this is the place to be! Make caramel turtles, biscotti, chocolate truffles, gummy bears, and much more. Learn the fine art of candy making and make some sweet treats for you and your friends.

Do you have a sweet tooth? Learn to bake homemade pies, make creamy, dreamy Tiramisu and create your own dessert cookbook. Discover the art of cake decorating and enter your own cake creation in the fourth annual Camp Metro cake decorating contest!
Iron Camp Chef

The ultimate kitchen experience! Spend time learning the ins and outs of the Camp Metro Kitchen and get your hands on some of our favorite recipes. Use your new skills in daily challenges to create a meal with different secret ingredients. Using teamwork, creativity and a kitchen stocked with supplies, can you come up with the perfect dish? At the end of the week you’ll be a Camp Metro Iron Chef!
Pasta Mache!

Ravioli, linguini, tortellini, paper mache – what’s that you say? Believe it or not the same ingredients go into both! Learn the art of pasta making and toss up scrumptious entrees with your camp friends. Then try your hand at working with paper mache to create masks, animals shapes or even a giant piñata for your own pasta party. It’s Pastalicious!
