Ropes Course Rental         

Skylark Ranch & Bothin

We offer different options for groups to choose from when renting one of the ropes courses. Opportunities are available to build teamwork with your group, develop climbing skills, participating in an individual challenge through this ultimate high adventure activity and more! 

Skylark Ranch High & Low Ropes Course:

Hidden among the redwood trees in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Skylark Ranch offers a low element Challenge Course and a high element High Ropes Course for rental. The Challenge Course is designed to bring a full team building experience to any group, and the experience continues when you climb the redwoods and participate in group activities 25 feet in the air. The course is available to rent during the Fall (Sept-Dec) and Spring (Mar-May) seasons. If weather permits, some events may be scheduled during Jan & Feb. 

Bothin High Ropes Adventure Course:

Tucked in an enchanted corner of Bothin, crossing over a rushing creek, you'll find a 3 level adventure course waiting for you! From teambuilding on the dynamic course, to individual challenges on the static course and zip line, come climb the giant cargo net tunnel and start your adventure today. The course is available to rent year round excluding the Summer season (Jun-Aug).

Ropes Course Instructors:

Our Ropes Course Instructors are highly trained and qualified to lead your group through the ropes course tailored to your groups goals. All ropes course rentals include an Instructor lead experience. Due to the nature of the courses and experience required

Challenge Course & Initiatives

Up to 2 hours, cap. 24 participants

Activities and challenges that focus on personal development and teamwork skills. From problem solving to communication and trust, facilitators will guide groups through activities and low ropes elements that will help build stronger teams. If you have groups larger than 24, you can schedule up to 4 sessions in one day.

Zip Line

Up to 2 hours, cap. 20 participants

Designed for the individual experience and will develop courage and confidence in participants as they climb through the cargo and descend the zip line through the trees. If you have a group larger than 20, you can schedule up to 4 sessions in one day.

Sampler for High Ropes Course

2 ½ hours, cap. 20 participants

A sampler session (1-2 elements) on the high ropes course. If you have groups larger than 20, you can schedule up to 4 sessions in one day.

Partial Day for High Ropes Course

Up to 4 hours, cap. 24 participants

Participants will be lead through a group development and teambuilding experience that will build courage, character and confidence. Groups will participate in elements that challenge both individual and team skills and have the opportunity to use at least 3 elements. Facilitators will guide a debriefing session at the end of the program.

Full Day for High Ropes Course

Up to 7 hours, cap. 24 participants

Participants will be lead through both individual and team challenges including a range of elements and activities that build trust, communication, and teamwork. Participants will have the opportunity to learn some basic skills in climbing and belaying. Facilitators will guide debriefing sessions at the end of the program.

Independent Ground School provided by

GSNorCal Staff

1 hour, cap. 18 participants

For programs that have scheduling restraints, an independent ground school option is offered. Ground school provides the instruction needed for the Bothin static course. This is included in the program offerings above, but if you would like more direct climbing and participation time, this can be added on a day prior to the ropes course event. If time permits, multiple sessions can be scheduled.

Liability Form: Every participant MUST have this completed and with you to turn in to the Ropes Course Instructor on the day of the event.  

How to Reserve the Ropes Course

Online Reservations: This is the preferred method for Girl Scout Groups.  It’s faster and easier for you, less expensive for the council, and it’s green. Non-Girl Scout groups, must contact us directly at camp@girlscoutsnorcal.org.

  1. Determine the site, and type of program your group would like.
  2. Click your user group's “Reserve Now!” button to go to the online reservation site.
  3. A member of the Outdoor Program Team will be in touch to provide confirmation information and discuss your reservation.
  4. If you do not want to make an online reservation, contact us directly at camp@girlscoutsnorcal.org.
