Farmtastic!

Grades 5-7 Session 4A Fee $475

Ever wonder what it would be like to live on a farm? Join us and find out while you gather tasty things to bring back to camp. Meet the goats at Harley Farms. Take a behind the scenes, hands on tour at Swanton Berry Farms where you’ll pick organic strawberries & olalliberries to make a delicious jam. Visit the farm stand at Pie Ranch to gather fresh local ingredients to bake a pie in an outdoor oven around the campfire. Spend your nights back at camp hosting whimsical parties full of treats and delights you’ve made from the farm.

Explore all that Skylark Ranch has to offer in this cool summer fun program! Discover new sea critters at the tide pools while hanging out with friends on the beach. Make a watercolor masterpiece from your ocean side experience. Take the llamas on a nature hike to Inspiration Point or spend the afternoon shooting archery and swinging from the low or high ropes course. From outdoor cooking, stargazing and skits around the campfire to time with new friends, a great summer adventure awaits you!

Mermaid’s Lagoon

Grades 2-4 Sessions 3A, 5 Fee $298

Spend a long summer day at Skylark’s very own beach lagoon. While at the beach, enjoy playing games and building sand castles for mermaids near the shimmering waves. Explore the tide pools where other sea creatures spend their days. Visit Fern Grove to build a fairy house, or take a sunset hike, have fun with arts and crafts, outdoor cooking, meadow games, and more.

Summer Magic

Grades 7-12 Session 3A Fee $298

It’s a quick getaway to experience the outdoors, activities, and magic of Skylark Ranch. Create a unique work of art, hang out at the beach, cook gourmet goodies over a campfire, try your hand at archery, or experience the thrill of the high ropes course. It’s four days of fun and new friends just waiting for you!

Moonshadows

Grades 8-12 Session 2 Fee $665

Just for older girls. Enjoy your favorite camp activities by day and discover Skylark Ranch by night. Share late night talks sitting around the campfire under the stars and sleep late if you choose. Plan an event for another unit or a dance for the whole camp. Go on an overnight to Point Montara Lighthouse in Half Moon Bay, have fun on a sunset sea kayaking tour, and watch the moon rise surrounded by new friends.

Lluv N' Llamas

Grades 4-6 Session 5 Fee $298

Come meet Skylark’s famous four… llamas that is! Our woolly friends are waiting to meet you in this fun-filled-llama-packed program! Go on llama walks with your new friends over the nature trail, and even put on a llama fashion show for everyone at campfire. Balance on the mohawk walk in the challenge course, then take the llamas through an obstacle course in the meadow. You’ll Lluv our Llamas!

Archers Adventure

Grades 5-8 Session 2B Fee $470

Become an archery legend! Ready your arrows, take aim, and shoot. Join Maid Marian’s Quest for the best archer in the land and learn or enhance your archery skills in the sport of archery. Make your own arrows, targets, arm guards, and more. Play creative shooting games and take an exciting trip to a local field archery range to experience a whole new world of archery. Some archery experience necessary.

Llama Mamas

Grades 4-6 Sessions 2A, 4B Fee $445

Are you ready for a llama expedition?!? Learn just how wonderful these unique and intelligent creatures are. Spend your days feeding, grooming, and training our very own llamas for amazing treks through camp. Have a “packnic party” and let the llamas pack your lunch to Inspiration Point. Create a one-of-a-kind piece of art from llama wool and take a special trip to a local llama farm!

Beach Boogie

Grades 5-7 Sessions 2B, 4A Fee $485

Sand, surf, and sun are waiting for you. Spend a day cruisin’ the waves in Santa Cruz on your very own boogie board. Back on land, explore the tide pools at Skylark’s beach, play games in the sand at Bean Hollow beach, and participate in our Sixth Annual Sand castle Contest! Plan a dance party for other campers and boogie the night away.

Gilligan’s Island

You’re stranded on an imaginary island with only your wits and camp friends to depend on. What would you do?! Practice lashing and build a tree bed? Cook your own meals? Beach Girls

Grades 7-10 Sessions 1A, 1B Fee $530

Ready for some EXTREME summer fun? Have a summer BBQ with new friends. Spend the day at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, go on an overnight at Point Montara Lighthouse, and enjoy swimming at Santa Cruz beaches. Don’t miss out – be a Beach Girl!

Summer Sleuths

Grades 5-7 Session 2A Fee $445

It’s an outrageous session-long “who-dunit” mystery. Are you ready for a challenge? With your fellow sleuths, you’ll find clues to solve a case… if you can. Spend time each day on the challenge course working with your team to solve problems and riddles. Visit the Mystery Spot and spend a day learning the tricks of the trade from a real life crime scene investigator.

Star Trekkers

Grades 4-6 Session 4B Fee $470

Hiking in daytime can be fun, but hiking at twilight is fantastic! Join your friends for night time games like flashlight tag in the meadow, take a moonlight llama hike, or shoot a round of “glow in the dark” archery. Plan a stargazing sleepover at Chapel Hill and take a tour of the summer night sky. By day, visit the Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences.

Firefly

Grades 4-6 Sessions 3A, 5 Fee $298

Build a campfire with your new friends and cook some delicious meals in the great outdoors. Spend time flying through the air on the “Nitro Swing” in the Challenge Course and the “Giant Swing” on the High Ropes Course. Set off on a nature themed scavenger hunt, sing songs with friends, and have an outdoor overnight under a blanket of stars.

Creative Arts Programs

Guitars & Gourmet

Grades 6-9 Sessions 1B, 3B Fee $470

Whether you’re cooking something delicious to eat or singing your favorite camp songs … this program has it all! Create gourmet meals – outdoor style – and sit around the campfire learning to play the guitar or just enjoy your favorite camp songs. Plan a campfire party with another group and serenade others under the stars.

Special Instructions: No previous guitar or music experience necessary. Guitars are provided.

MyStudio

Grades 7-10 Session 1A Fee $470

Express yourself through different forms of media. Learn techniques in tile mosaics, painting, and more. Spend a portion of your day taking a lesson on these new techniques and then create a studio space to explore your creative side further. Visit the amazing de Young Museum in San Francisco to see the exhibit on fashion world designer, Jean Paul Gaultier.

Pacific Adventure Programs

Surf's Up

Grades 8-12 Session 1B Fee $685

Hang ten and ride the waves as you surf the waters in Santa Cruz. Under the direction of a world-renowned surfing instructor, spend eight hours over four days learning the basics of this exciting sport. You’ll be on your board in no time! Visit the surfing museum in Santa Cruz and check out the famous Steamers Lane. Surf’s Up!

Special Instructions: All equipment is provided. Must be able to swim face down in deep water.

Sea Quest

Grades 6-9 Sessions 2A, 2B Fee $585

Leave the shoreline for your amazing adventures at sea. Journey up the Santa Cruz coastline on a team challenge sailing regatta. See the marine animals up close when you paddle through the harbor in your kayak. Take your adventure to the next level when you learn to balance yourself on a stand up paddle board on the ocean!

Special Instructions: Must be able to swim face down in deep water.

Seafari

Grades 5-7 Session 3B Fee $520

Explore the wealth of wildlife roaming the endless Pacific! Your Seafari begins by visiting the Elephant Seals at Ano Nuevo State Beach. Then head to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center and check out the dolphins, otters, and other marine mammals before exploring the expansive tide pools at Natural Bridges beach. Your adventure continues when you take a catamaran and sail through a kelp forest where you may catch a glimpse of sea lions, seals, and sea otters.

Pacific Edge

Grades 6-9 Sessions 1A, 3B Fee $620

Where the land meets the sea, there’s so much to see! Spend a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and get a fish’s eye view on an underwater adventure as you surface scuba dive in the Great Tide Pool! Explore Point Lobos State Reserve and check out the hanging cliff-side gardens off Bird Island Trail. Venture the waters of the Santa Cruz harbor for a day of sea kayaking too.

Special Instructions: All equipment is provided. Must be able to swim face down in deep water. Maximum age limit is 13 years old for scuba.

Climb On

Grades 5-8 Session 1B Fee $470

Come swing through the air with the greatest of ease … and experience the challenge on our low and high ropes courses. Work together as a team to set and accomplish goals every day on the courses. Experience a one-of-a-kind adventure with your teammates!

Up, Up and Away

Travel through the redwoods, across the sky bridges and zip lines over 400 feet long. Enjoy the pristine beauty of the coastal redwood forest from the unique perspective only a canopy tour can offer. Back at camp, climb the elements of the high ropes course and learn basic climbing knots. Practice your climbing and ropes techniques further at an indoor rock climbing gym where you can boulder and scale the walls.

Special Instructions: Note: Campers must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs.

Hip, Hip, Belay!

Do you love the thrill of the high ropes course? Learn the skills you need to belay your teammates and develop the true meaning of trust. Climb and experience the ultimate challenge of these elements among the majestic redwoods. Develop team camaraderie and take your adventure to the next level by visiting another local ropes course too!

Sand, Sun & Route 1

Grades 8-12 Session 4 Fee $785

It’s the ultimate road trip with your friends down Highway 1. Create a play list for the trip, pack up the car, and prepare to camp in some of the most scenic parts of California. Have a fun cruising in your kayak along the shores of Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row in Monterey. Spend the day exploring the trails and sights of Big Sur. Check out amazing coastal beaches before you travel on to see the exotic Hearst Castle. Visit Morro Bay and take a glass bottom boat cruise. Check out lighthouses and interesting spots, as you discover the magic and fun of the great American road trip!

Special Instructions: Must be able to swim in deep water.

Equestrian Programs

Skylark Ranch offers quality riding school instruction in a summer camp setting. Our program features beginning to advanced lessons in both English and Western riding. Emphasis in all program levels is on skill development, progression and expanding knowledge of horses and horse care. Within their registered program, campers are placed in classes based on their skill level. Classes are kept small with a ratio of at least 1 instructor to 6 campers.
  • Have daily lessons
  • Participate in daily theory lessons
  • Take part in the horse care and management
  • Participate in the sport of vaulting, which teaches balance while learning to move with a horse
  • Receive a written evaluation of their skills throughout the session and a ribbon of completion

Happy Trails (Level 4: English OR Western)

Grades 8-12 Sessions 1B, 4A, 4B Fee $695

Ride outdoors on natural trails and explore the majestic redwoods and rolling coastal meadows on horseback! Enjoy daily trail rides with spectacular views. Ride your horse to a cookout, take part in a mounted flag ceremony in the meadow!

Saddle Sampler (Level 1: English & Western)

Grades 2-4 Sessions 3A, 5 Fee $398

Take part in two riding lessons, a vaulting lesson, and learn about how to take care of your horse! Campers will get to try Western OR English styles.

Discover the world of Trec, one of the fastest growing equestrian sports that every horse and rider can enjoy. The emphasis is on having fun with your horse! The sport is made up of three phases: orienteering, control of gaits, and a cross country obstacle course. Spend 2 hours each day in lessons that will teach you how to overcome various challenges in the natural environment.

Grades 5-8 Session 3B Fee $695

Spend 2½ hours each day, refining your riding style and participate in lessons on theory and horsemanship. Perfect your upward and downward transition at the walk and trot, take your horse through a fan of poles and practice your lope technique. Go on a trail ride to explore Skylark on horseback.

Mount Up (Level 4: English)

Spend 2½ hours each day, refining your riding style and then participate in lessons on theory and horsemanship. Improve your jumping technique over different fences and practice perfecting your canter. Go on a trail ride to jump a fence in the open!

Advanced Equestrian Programs

These programs are by application only. Applications can be found on the registration page. See the skill requirements on the horse page to make sure you met the minimum requirements for the program. Applications will be reviewed by the Camp Director and Equestrian Director which may extend the usual period of time before campers are confirmed for the program. Tally Ho! (Level 5: English)

Grades 8-12 Session 4 Fee $845

Explore the world of Hunter Seat competitions and take both under-saddle and over-fences classes to improve your equitation skills. In addition to flatwork, take lessons on dressage, jumping, cross country, and more! Create a drill routine to perform. A horse show will be held at the end of the session – parents are welcome to attend!

Wild West Adventure (Level 5: Western)

Grades 8-12 Session 2 Fee $845

Focus on Western Pleasure, reining, and trail work. Sharpen your skills in gymkhana and practice timed events like barrel racing, pole bending, keyhole, and a flag race! Develop your reining techniques from circles to flying change. A horse show will be held at the end of the session – parents are welcome to attend!

Skylark Ranch Leadership Programs

Leadership programs are by application only. To apply, submit your camp registration form and additional leadership application form and reference form, either on-line or by mail or FAX. The application form can be found on the registration page, you candownload it or contact the Girl Scout office at happycamper@girlscoutsnorcal.org. An interview may be required for all programs except Lead On! Only one of the C.I.T. or W.I.T. programs may be taken per summer. The Lead On! Program and any level of the C.I.T. program can be taken in the same summer.

Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.)

Be at least 15 years old OR entering the 10th Grade C.I.T. Fee $665

Improve your leadership skills and learn about the needs of children in the camp setting. Explore the basics of developing and delivering camp program and camp operations. Spend some time working with younger children.

Find your place in camp. Use your leadership and program skills as you work under the supervision of camp staff, in units, or at your favorite specialty area. Carry out an individual project and learn more about camp management. Must have completed C.I.T. or its equivalent. The Deer Lake Adventure C.I.T is specifically focused on adventure programming (waterfront, ropes, etc.) at the Apprentice C.I.T. level.

Under the supervision of the Riding Staff, assist with beginning riding lessons and learn more about horseback riding program operations and management. At Skylark Ranch, help plan and present the advanced horse shows.
