Skylark Ranch resident camp spans 280 acres along the beautiful California coast, approximately 1 hour south of San Francisco. The camp features a variety of accommodations from tent cabins to primitive units, a high and low ropes course, an indoor dining hall with commercial kitchen, an art and nature center, extensive hiking trails through many different ecological areas and much more.

Living Units

Skylark Ranch features nine living units. Six of the units consist of a group of platform tents that sleep 4 people per tent on cots and mattresses. For the more adventurous campers, our two primitive units are just the thing. Campers in these units build their own tree bed for sleeping. A tipi unit is also available. All units have a campfire circle, picnic tables, running water and bathrooms with low-flush toilets.friends frog riders

Main Camp

In the center of camp is our unique circular dining hall which seats up to 200 people. Meals are served family style from our complete commercial kitchen. The Singing Logs outside the dining hall are the central gathering place for camper groups. The Health and Wellness Center is located adjacent to the camp office, facing the dining hall.

Program Facilities

The Art Center at Skylark Ranch offers girls the opportunity to explore studio and fine arts. The Center has a kiln and full size-weaving loom. Ceramics, painting, sculpture, weaving and traditional arts and crafts are only some of the artistic activities available.

All campers have the opportunity to explore the natural environment with hands on activities in our Nature Center or in field activities that explore the many eco-systems in and around the camp. From ocean beaches, coastal lowlands and Redwoods groves to high chaparral, Skylark Ranch is alive with natural wonders.

Skylark Ranch also offers an extensive meadow for sports and games, an amphitheater style campfire circle and an archery range. A Low Element Challenge Course is available to all campers. A comprehensive High Adventure Ropes Course is available to campers entering 4th grade and up. These courses provide participants the opportunities to horse riderpractice group communication and develop team skills while having fun. Each course has challenges and obstacles suitable for all age levels and skill abilities. The courses are available for groups during the school year, depending on the weather. A primary element of Skylark Ranch is our comprehensive horseback riding program. The camp offers beginning to advanced English and Western riding and Vaulting. There are two riding arenas, a separate vaulting area, and extensive trails including areas for a cross-country course.
