Lou Henry Hoover, first lady, Stanford graduate, and avid outdoor enthusiast brought Girl Scouting to the west coast. Mrs. Hoover was an active Girl Scout moving from troop leader to president of the national organization throughout her career. After her husband's presidency, Hoover returned to the west coast bringing Girl Scouting with her, first to Palo Alto.
