Jewel of a Woman
Friday, September 10, 2010
Girl Scouts of Northern California is holding its 18th annual "Jewel of a Woman" fundraising event. The event, named after the first honoree - Ruby Jewel Codding Hall, is a fun-filled evening that honors women selected for service in their community and for being excellent role-models for young girls.
Each year Girl Scouts honors a woman in the community who represents the qualities of leadership and character we strive for in Girl Scouts. We are pleased to announce that Kathy Witkowicki and Val Richman, are the Jewel of a Woman 2010 honorees.

Beyond Cookies & Camping
October 16, 2008
Women make-up 46% of the work force, but they hold only 24% of technical jobs. In the Girl Scouts, however, a full 100% of girls are encouraged to take an early interest in science, math, technology and engineering. We serve up technology through space camps, career exploration days, and the NASA Aeronautics & Robotics Camp that supports the Girl Scout’s award winning robotics team – Space Cookies (Check out the video from abc7news View from the Bay!) By making these subjects girl-friendly today, we help girls succeed and lead tomorrow.
