Girl Scout Days

Throughout the year several of the sports and entertainment organizations within our council offer "Girl Scout Days." On these days, Girl Scouts and their families/friends receive discounted rates and can often purchase participation patches for the special event.

Amusement Parks

California's Great America 

This event is a unique opportunity for Scouts and their families to enjoy a day at California's Great America just for them! From 10:00am on Saturday, the park is open to all Scouts and their families. (Limited rides will be in operation.) A private all-you-can eat Scout picnic brings everyone together, and a fun troop Karaoke contest gives guests the chance to root on their favorite troop! Girl Scouts can continue their journey by participating in an exclusive overnight, but space is limited to the first 400 campers! Overnight campers will also experience our "Camp Night Showcase." Overnight guests will also be treated to breakfast the next morning before enjoying another full day of fun inside California's Great America.

Gilroy Gardens Overnight

Gilroy Gardens Camp Nights Girl Scout Camp Nights are becoming tradition at Gilroy Gardens. Gather your troops and head on out! Come and experience camping in an exciting and safe environment that combines the beauty of magnificent gardens with the appeal and excitement of a traditional family theme park! Gilroy Gardens features over 40 family rides, attractions, gardens, andf educational exhibits.

Gilroy Gardens 100th Anniversary Wonders of Water Celebration

Water is the Wonder of Life!  Come celebrate water, camp overnight, learn about Gilroy Garden’s extensive irrigation system and take the reservoir hiking challenge.  This special 100th Anniversary program includes exclusive Wonder of Water educational activities and patches.

Overnight Program:  Day Event activities below PLUS Friday night camping, Dinner & Breakfast, AND an exclusive evening tour of the parks reservoir system for campers who wish to participate in the reservoir hiking challenge.  Non-hikers can choose a closer location near the campsite to learn about the Parks water cycle.

Troops who prefer not to camp may attend the day event:  Saturday morning educational activities with Waterfall demonstration and rally at the Lakeside Amphitheatre, admission to the park, Lunch and participation patch.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Experience the wonders and thrills of Land, Sea, & Sky at the world’s first theme park, Oceanarium, and acredited zoo during this annual weekend where Girl Scouts from all over Northern California join together in fun. Complete the workbook by exploring the rides and learning more about the physics of rollercoasters! Feed your wild side when you’re not feeding our wild creatures in 135 acres of pure adventure!

Please Note: One free admission ticket is provided for every 15 paid admissions (does not include meal if purchasing picnic package). Children 2 years and under do not require tickets. Picnic is all-you-can-eat from 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Special Performances

 

San Francisco Ballet

Nutcracker

Experience America's original Nutcracker! this holiday season bring your troop together at the War Memorial Opera House for Tomasson's Nutcracker. SF Ballet's lavish production, set in San Francisco during the 1915 Pan-Pacific Exhibition, is the perfect holiday outing for all ages.  plus, Dec 11 and 12 are Family Performances - the first 500 children to arrive receive a special gift and everyone enjoys complimentary sweet treats and beverages at intermission.  For 30 minutes only, starting one hour prior to curtain, Nutcracker characters are available for photos, so arrive early and bring your camera!*

* Family Performances are popular! lines for entrance to the Opera House and for photos form quickly, so arrive early.  Children's gifts are handed out at the doors on a first come/first served basis, starting one hour prior to curtain. So that our dancers areen't late for the performance, photo lines must be stopped 30 minutes prior to curtain.

The Velveteen Rabbit

ODC/Dance welcomes Girl Scouts and their friends and families to a live performance of The Velveteen Rabbit, a magical tale of love, loyalty, and hope. This is a great dance badge opportunity as well as lots of fun! After the performance, there will be a special interactive talk with the director and choreographer of the show and the chance to meet and ask questions of the professional dancers! ODC/Dance has been delighting audiences for over 25 years with this magnificent production of the classic children’s tale. With its charming music, colorful costumes and larger than life characters, The Velveteen Rabbit is a heartwarming “must see” production!

Cal Men’s Basketball 

Cal Men’s Basketball begins the first year of the expanded Pac-12 conference taking on several great opponents this season.  Girl Scouts of Northern California are invited to Haas Pavilion to support the Bears with a discounted ticket offer as Cal will be hosting Girl Scout Day.  Girl Scout Day will include a pre-game event, giveaways, and more.   If you can’t make it for Girl Scout Day, groups of 15 or more are welcome for each game to watch the Golden Bears at Haas Pavilion. Cal Women’s Basketball 

Bring your troop, friends, and family to the third annual 2014 California Women’s Basketball Girl Scout Day!  Prior to the game Girl Scouts are invited to join us for an event featuring a healthy lifestyle discussion and interactive program presented by Cal Student Athletes. Following Cal Kids Day cheer the Bears as they take on Arizona!  Cal Women’s Basketball games are great family entertainment for all fans of all ages.

Golden State Warriors Dance Clinic

Learn to dance from one of the hottest dance teams in the NBA at a special night just for Girl Scouts. Meet members of the Golden State Warriors dance team and participate in a pre-game dance clinic – then perform the routine on the Oracle Arena court just prior to the Warriors game. This unique offer also includes the opportunity for you to enjoy the excitement of the game later that night with your fellow Girl Scouts, family and friends. Do not miss this fun-filled night with the Warriors!

Oakland A's

The Giants welcome you in joining them by celebrating the Girl Scouts of America at the Giants annual Girl Scout Day! All uniformed Girl Scouts and their troop leaders will be invited to participate in a pre-game ceremonial parade on the field to honor the scouts. In addition, each special event ticket comes with a unique Girl Scout-themed Giants item, only available to buyers of this special event ticket package. Proceeds from every special event ticket purchased will be donated to Girl Scouts of America to support Girl Scouts in the Bay Area and across the nation. San Jose State Football

Join the San Jose State Spartans at Spartan Stadium for Girl Scout Day. Proceeds from every ticket purchased will be donated to Girl Scout of Northern California. All uniformed scouts will receive a commemorative Spartan Girl Scout patch. Scouts must purchase discounted tickets in advance to receive this offer.  Order today and the first 50 Girl Scouts who sign up, will receive an exclusive pre-game visit down on the field to participate in the “High-Five Tunnel”.  Hope to see you all out at Spartan Stadium and see why We Are One!

Special Girl Scout Days

  • Juliette Gordon Low's Birthday, or Founder's Day, October 31, marks the 1860 birth of Girl Scouts of the USA founder Juliette Low in Savannah, Georgia. Juliette started the organization in 1912. Test your knowledge of the Girl Scouts' founder with our interactive quiz.
  • World Thinking Day, February 22, celebrates the birthdays of Girl Guides/Girl Scouts founder Robert, Lord Baden-Powell (1857-1941) and World Chief Guide, Olave, Lady Baden-Powell (1889-1977). To learn about this year's World Thinking Day focus, visit World Thinking Day.
  • In the United States, Girl Scouting grew out of the friendship between Juliette Gordon Low and Lord Baden-Powell and his sister, Agnes, who began Girl Guiding. World Thinking Day celebrates that friendship and the sisterhood of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the globe. The day is also a time to donate funds to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.
  • Girl Scout Anniversary, March 12, commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.
