Troop 10373 Explores the Monterey Bay
Girl Scout Troop 10373 from Petaluma decided to celebrate the transition from sixth grade to Junior High and from Juniors to Cadettes with a trip to the Santa Cruz/Monterey area that combined fun, adventure and badge work. The trip started off with a day of fun at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk where the girls enjoyed the rides and the sights before heading down the coast to their hotel in Seaside. The girls were up early to participate in the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Underwater Adventure program where they donned dry suits to SCUBA in the Great Tidepool and tour the aquarium and then enjoyed a late picnic lunch at a neighboring park. That evening some of the girls enjoyed a movie in their hotel suite while others explored the shops and sites on Cannery Row. While in Monterey the girls worked on the Girl Scouts in the Bay Interest Project. The next day the troop enjoyed a morning on the beach at Sea Cliff State Park in Aptos before heading home.
All of the girls in the troop have been Girl Scouts at least since they were Brownies and several of the girls have been members of Troop 10373 since they were kindergarten Daisies. The girls highly recommend the Underwater Adventures program, which is only open to youth ages 8 through 13.
