Girls Learn While They Earn!
Every Girl Scout Cookie has a mission: To help girls do great things! The Cookie Program provides fun learning experiences to the girls that participate. While having fun they are also learning skills, though the sale that helps them to develop a strong 
sense of self-confidence, team building, goal setting, money management and much more.
Indulging your sweet tooth never felt so satisfying: proceeds from these once-a-year treats inspire girls of all ages become confident and learn about financial literacy as well as provide funds for service projects, programs, and fees for camps and memberships.
Girls decide what to do with their proceeds, and you’ll also get to see these funds benefit your own community as all money from the Cookie Program remains here in our local council, benefitting 19 counties throughout Northern California.
What Can a Cookie Do?
How the Cookie Crumbles
All funds raised by girls remain in the council. No money is returned to the national organization. Funds from the sale are used to provide Girl Scouting to girls from all backgrounds to maintain camps and other properties, and to deliver high quality training to Girl Scout troop leaders and other volunteers.
The chart below shows how the $4 from each box of cookies is allocated. Except for the cost of the cookies, all funds raised are used to deliver the Girl Scout Program.

Gift of Caring 
Girl Scout cookies not only taste good -- they do good, too, thanks to our Gift of Caring community service project. In addition to buying cookies for yourself, you can purchase boxes and have them donated to the military to bring a taste of home to troops overseas or to a local food bank to bring cheer to victims of disaster or families in need.
Gift of Caring is simple: you purchase the gift receipt, and Girl Scouts will make sure your gift puts a smile on someone's face, whether they're far from home or just around the corner.
From MSG Kennedy, stationed in Iraq, who received Gift of Caring cookies last year:
"It means so much for Soldiers to receive the care packages from California because we are all California Soldiers and it is hard to be away from loved ones during the holiday season! Please pass on to all the volunteers our heart felt thank you! It means a lot that they took the time out of their busy lives, supported by their parents and other volunteers to send out the care packages. We LOVE the cookies! Thank you again!"

Girl Scout Cookies are a once-a-year treat to be enjoyed in moderation. All of our 2012 cookie varieties have 0 grams trans fat per serving, and none have high fructose corn syrup!
