Formal Service Unit Adult Recognitions
There are a number of recognitions that a service unit can present to their volunteers to recognize them for the service they have provided. All of the recognitions and awards mentioned here are up to service unit discretion. They do not require approval from the GSNorCal council. When you are ready to order the awards and pins for your service unit, use the shop order form (button to the right) and your service unit awards will be mailed to you. Check out the where to place adult awards/insignia on the adult uniform for proper award placement.
Service Unit Awards
Volunteer of Excellence Award
This award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of the National Program Portfolio or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council's mission delivery to girl and adult members. This award has a specific nomination form.
Green Angel Patch
This patch recognizes an adult volunteer who brought Girl Scout program to her/his service unit in the most creative or innovative way for the year. Examples include a special service project, unique sponsorship, etc.
Rookie of the Year
This award certificate recognizes an outstanding NEW troop leader who has completed council mandated trainings forall new leaders. Must be a registered adult Girl Scout with an approved volunteer screening application on file with the counci and someone who has done a fantastic job with her/his troop, girls, and adults throughout the first year.
Family of the Year
This award ceretificate recognizes a family who has contribuuted outstanding service, such as supporting their troop, camps, special events, product sales, or fulfilling other significant roles. All types of families are eligible-single parent, guardians, etc.
Father of the Year
This award certificate recognizes the most outstanding father, who always seemed to be there when the troop or the service unit needed him.
This award certificate recognizes groups or individuals who have had a positive impact on the service unit by volunteering, providing in-kind or financial donations, or providing other outstanding support to Girl Scouts.
Grade Level Volunteer Pins
These pins are great to welcome and thank volunteers into roles working directly with girls or supporting a grade level behind the scenes. These can be awarded at any time.
Volunteer Position Pins
Each position an adult member has in Girl Scouting has a corresponding colored position bar. The position and colors are:
Troop Pathway Volunteer and Volunteers in Training (girls)
Program Volunteers, Event and Camp Pathway Volunteers
Series and Travel Pathway Volunteers
Service Team Volunteers, Administrative Volunteers, USAGSO Committee Chairs/Overseas Committee Members Council Volunteers
These pins recognize the number of combined years as a girl and adult member. Pins are available in 5-year increments: 5,10,15,20,25 ... For 30 years and above, recipients are recognized at one of the Adult Recognition council events.
Volunteer Years of Service Pin
These pins recognize the number of years of active service as an adult volunteer in Girl Scouts. Pins are available in 5-year increments: 5,10,15,20,25 ... For 30 years and above, recipients are recognized at one of the Adult Recognition council events.
