Rental Information: Camp Sugar Pine

Camp Sugar Pine, purchased in 1939, has a rich history of Girl Scout camping. At 4,800-foot elevation, approximately 140 miles from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sugar Pine is a gem and boasts to have the third largest and tallest sugar pine tree in the world. Another gift is the presence of an Indian grinding stone used by Native Americans. Many wild creatures also make this camp their home such as hawks, squirrels, quail and even possibly a bear who may amble through. On a more typical day, deer are found browsing in the early evening. Camp Sugar Pine is a perfect basecamp for nearby excursions to visit Calaveras Big Trees State Park, explore local caves, take a ride down a zip line, or visit a historical mining town. Take a short hike at camp or on a nearby public trail in the Bear valley area or enjoy an afternoon of kayaking at beautiful Lake Alpine. No shortage of options for troop use, camporees, or family outings.

New for 2014, Sugar Pine has re-opened for troop use, family outings and camporees during the shoulder seasons-spring and fall. Troop and small group camping available from May 1st-June 1st.  Camporees and all user groups can rent part or the entire camp starting August 25th through September. During the month of October, only the Indoor Rental Options will be available.

Sugar Pine's accommodations include three Cabin style buildings and six group Tent campsites. Commercial Kitchen available from August 25th through September only.
