Kids on Trails in the Presidio
Get out there with KIDS on Trails a self-guided program designed for youth and accompanying adults to encourage learning and recreation outdoors in the park. There are KIDS on Trails booklets for the Ecology Trail (near the Main Post) and the Anza Trail (near Mountain Lake). Each offers kid-friendly activities, site-based experiences, tips for adults, and a trail map. Booklets are available in English, Spanish and Chinese. What a way to take a Journey! This event is free and open to Girls grades K-2. Register with: Lisa Hillstrom at firstname.lastname@example.org or (415) 561-5300.
GBN: Quests in the Presidio
Presidio Quest Adventures are wonderful treasure hunts that also teach eco-literacy with a fun, place-based team approach to exploring special natural areas in the park. Currently there are four questing adventures available for families and groups: Tennessee Hollow Watershed Quest Adventure and Quest Guide for Presidio Habitats. A Presidio Nursery Quest and Lobos Creek Valley Quest will be available in 2011. This event is free and open to Girls grades 3-5.
Register with: Damien Raffa at email@example.com or (415) 561-4449.
GBN: Ranger Rick Geocache Trails in the Presidio
Join The Presidio and the National Wildlife Federation in “Ranger Rick’s Geocache Trails,” a new family friendly, wildlife-themed, outdoor treasure hunt happening in parks nation-wide. What is geocaching? Geocaching is a popular form of outdoor fun whereby hidden “caches” (typically small boxes) are discovered using GPS technology. What a great way to merge tech and nature! Here in the Presidio there are two ways to participate: with or without GPS! Download a passport from www.presidio.gov. This event is free and open to Girls grades K-5. Register with: Download the passport from www.presidio.gov.
